Elect Rick Kuss for Kitsap County Sheriff
BACKGROUND
Rick Kuss is a dedicated law enforcement professional driven by a clear mission: to unite Kitsap County while safeguarding the constitutional rights of every resident. His vision for public safety is rooted in action and compassion—tackling crime, eliminating the threat of fentanyl, revitalizing law enforcement, and addressing homelessness with both urgency and humanity. Rick believes that a safer, stronger community begins with principled leadership and a commitment to justice for all.
PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
Rick’s devotion to public service began early. At just 16 years old, he joined the Saline Police Department as an apprentice, gaining four years of hands-on experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to protecting others. He went on to attend the Michigan State Police Law Enforcement Career Academy and enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program at Lake Superior State University.
After 24 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Navy, Rick retired as a decorated veteran and respected leader. His military career exemplified his unwavering dedication to country, community, and the values of discipline and integrity. While preparing for retirement, Rick pursued advanced education, earning a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University in 2021.
In 2023, Rick continued his service to Washington State by joining the King County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. He graduated from the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy in Burien in October 2023, where he distinguished himself as class president—demonstrating excellence and leadership.
